AN EXCITING CHAPTER BEGINS
Dear Bayview Members,
I extend heartfelt gratitude to all who joined us for the AGM on February 8th, 2024, whether in person or virtually. Your presence and engagement are genuinely appreciated by both the Board of Directors and myself. We are honored by the mandate you have provided and are excited to represent the diverse and vibrant membership of Bayview.
Reflecting on the past two years, our club and staff teams have made remarkable progress together. Our member programs continue to build and grow based on your feedback. From the introduction of new spin bikes and Pilates reformers to Bayview’s complimentary fitness classes, the well-enjoyed Junior Lounge, the expanded Junior Tennis Program, and the updated Barn indoor golf training center, we have received incredibly positive feedback and member engagement.
The club continues this focus with the successful support and buyout of the tennis bubble, enhanced racquet program planning, and continuing pickleball offerings. As we look to Springtime, we have unveiled our new lounge area off the Grill Restaurant, which is often sold out nightly. All of this challenging work is based on one area of focus – our membership and the club’s commitment to continue to elevate our Bayview experience. My sincere thanks go to our resolute management and staff teams for their daily efforts in making these improvements possible.
Our planning work continues, with exciting developments on the horizon, including the completion of the new outdoor dining patio space and the ramp area to the 10th tee -- both eagerly awaiting the warmer weather. We've embarked on two ambitious projects for 2024 and 2025 – the golf course outdoor practice facility and adjustments to the 1st hole, along with the much-anticipated driving nets in conjunction with the new Turf Maintenance Facility, both 15+ years in the making and linked to our Strategic Plan. We will continue to share project updates, communication, and member sessions as our calendars look to Spring weather.
The Board remains focused on envisioning the future of Bayview in innovative ways. Embracing a forward-looking approach, we provide guidance to the management team to execute approved projects and initiatives. We passionately believe in a "nose in, hands out" approach, enabling management operational responsibilities to ensure efficient governance. For any questions or concerns, your first point of contact is our General Manager, Jeremey MacRae.
Communication and transparency are at the core of our governance philosophy. We are exploring creative ways to share detailed insights into the focus and achievements of each of our volunteer member committees throughout the year. Recognizing the diversity within our membership, we aim to highlight the individuals volunteering their time on each committee, fostering pride in the vibrant community we collectively create. Thank you to all our valued member volunteers for your time and service to Bayview.
To best enable member alignment and understanding, our club’s surveying efforts and information sessions will continue in key feedback areas, such as Tennis facility needs, outdoor dining opportunities, and the Turf Maintenance Facility Project, just to name a few! We are kicking off this work with an overview of potential ideas around the tennis facility space and rendering - Tennis Season Open Event, Saturday, June 01, 2024.
I am looking forward to an exciting year and wish to express my gratitude once again for the confidence and support bestowed upon this Board. Our dedication remains steadfast in building an exceptional experience for all members – whether legacy, new, or in between, and spanning all ages.
